Hi guys...I am sure this is nothing new on this thread, but I am sure I am going to be hanging around for a while, so I thought I would share my story.
Yesterday, after picking up some much needed supplies at our local reptile store (after acquiring some awesome sand boas at NARBC), I was given the option of rehabbing a 10 pound sulcata that is in pretty bad shape. Since we know the owner, and he knows I do educational shows, he gave him to me for free. He is my first sulcata, and has some crazy bad pyramiding. His shell is hard, and he does eat and has energy, he cannot fully lift himself off the ground. It was borderline impossible to clean all the "gunk" in the crevices of his shell. He is eating well, although not sure of the whole grass thing...I am hoping to learn a lot from you guys. Since the weather is warm right now he spends a few hours out wandering the yard, but he also has free roam of my reptile room, which is fitted with lights and a hidespot for him.
I am hopeful that he can become an educational animal...he sure has a story to tell about his species and improper care, and he is very calm and gentle.
I am in Illinois, so right now I am dreaming up some ideas for how to house him inside over the winter...right now he is small, but I am thinking ahead.
Here are some pictures...please chime in with your thoughts:

I am here to absorb as much information as I can about the species!

Thanks,
Amy
