When was the last time your Ball bit you?

ericthemantis Feb 07, 2003 09:41 AM

I'm curious to see how many times your ball has bit you (if ever), what you were doing when it did, and how old your snake was. Thanks!

Eric

I have 3 of them and have never been bitten by one of them. Two are males that are around 7 years old (farm raised, LTC - have had them since they were babies), and one female (CB02).

They have often looked like they wanted to bite me, but never have. These are the only snakes I have that have never bit me. I don't feel at all uncomfortable about handing these to anyone who wants to hold them!

I have 1 female BP, & have had her since May 2001. She bit me once in June 2001 & that's all. She was just a baby, smelled rat on my hands, & showed me how fast she could be when she wants to!

She's captive-hatched & has a wonderful disposition & I love her to bits.

I have never been bit, but my husband and one other person was bit when the ball python was surprised or frightened.
Another person said the snake got nippy after he had been holding a furry chinchella, and than tried to hold the snake.

I've never been bitten per say, but I've been struck - granted it was my own fault (stupid mistake, picked Celia up too soon after feeding and tried to move her) - she struck me but didn't actually bite - so take that as you will -- that strike was about six months ago

I haven't been bitten (yet!), although I was feeding him a few month ago and his aim was *really* off when he struck. Kind of bumped my thumb that was holding the forcep things. I'm not sure who was more surprised, him or me!

I havent yet but was going to pick up my albino couple days ago and he hissed at me , smart enough not to try picking him up hope i never do lol-

Got a nasty look few times though. Usually in the day when some sort of maintenance had to be done during her nap time.
Doesn't approve of misting much either, but has never bit and only struck at us once and that was on Day One when she was a new baby and terrifed. Hasn't even balled up since then.
Were you bitten?

I actually don't have one yet. I'm waiting until the 22nd of this month to get my first hatchling at the Phoenix reptile show. I was interested in how many people's pythons have nailed them, and if they are really as docile as everybody makes them out to be. I hope! I held one in Petco over the weekend; just a little baby, and as I was holding her she hissed at me once, but then calmed down. Never struck or tried to bite in any way...

I've been pretty lucky, I've been struck at pleanty of times, but not bit yet. (Knocking on some wood!) Got a new little sassy girl in today though, little spit fire tried to nail me 5 times before I could get her out of the box and into her new tank! Then she spent the rest of the day hitting the glass trying to nail me! I finally had to declare the room she is in off limits for a few hours, maybe she'll mellow out, check out one of the hides and stop sitting by the side of the tank waiting for a person to walk by!

Gonna have to come up with a good name for her, unfortunatly I already used Miss B.B. for another little spit fire I have!! (BB stands for Witch with a capital B Bites)
