Eastern Color Morphs

Well we got together at a show today and I took a few photos of the easterns. Jeff's hatchlings were in shed and no good photos were taken but here are some comparison shots of normal, albino, and green. Should be very interesting over the next bunch of years!

Great looking animals, Joe. Your amel is coming along nicely, and those are the best pics of Jeff's green Monsters I've seen.

Re: the possible anerythrism in the Monster... There's a small patch of orange scales below your thumb in the photo. That says, quite strongly, that that particular animal isn't anerythistic. Oddly colored patches of scales often regrow in an area where an injury has healed, but if the animal was unable to produce orange/red pigment, they wouldn't be that color.

Thanks Cole.

I didn't notice that patch until viewing the photo and wasn't sure if it might have been a reflection of some sort? It is a very large different looking eastern for sure, I like it a lot. There was definitely a difference in the two neonates I saw as well, red and no red (black/purplish), but they were just about to shed so no good photos.

Cole, I see what you are saying with the scale. There are plenty of cases of "paradox" morphs, and easterns commonly have not only orange "healed wounds" but pale or white as well. I would suggest that the enzymes or T cells that replace damaged scales may have their own set of dna so normal rules may not apply...maybe. That big green one is wc, and I havent raised any "anerys" to breeding size yet(only 2 have been produced). I completely understand that the green/anery is just a theory til I do, but to me it seems like the simplest explanation of the appearance of both "anerys" and greens in the same population. The greens are different, and I cant see more than 1 morph popping up in a population so small.....
That said, there is a HUGE difference between the pics Joe took and the ones I posted....with my archaic 4MP camera. And I want to take a minute and thank and congratulate Joe again on the job he is doing with that albino. Any one of a thousand people could have found it, but the fact that Joe has basically picked up the hobby as a whole(in addition to his find)and taken the time to make it a family project with his kids...its something real nice to see. He definately gets my vote for rookie/newby of the year!!

I should have mentioned that they DO look exceptionally green in Joe's photos. Nice animals no matter what comes of the anery. trait. My fingers are crossed for you.
