Different aspen question

cfr Oct 12, 2008 04:31 PM

I have read all of the questions about what to use in the cage, and have decided to go with aspen since, in my area, all Home Depots and Lowes only have cypress "blend", which includes some pine. I have used shreded aspen in the past for my colubrids, but noticed a chipped version the other day that runs for less than half the price. Having lots of cages, this sounds great, but I wanted to check to see if anyone has had or heard of any problems with this version. It is labeled as pure aspen and for snakes, but I don't want to take any chances with my animals. Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Derek

I used aspen chips with no issues. You just have to make sure they don't swallow any with their prey.
They usually don't.
