red ball pythons??? check this out . . .

Gregory May 23, 2003 11:43 PM

I've been working with reptiles for a long time and I've seen a lot of strange things (real and hoaxes). Years ago when the big show was still in Orlando, I ran across a booth that had RED and GREEN ball pythons!!! They were set up across from Al and Cindy Baldogo and had attracted a big crowd. They simply forced the ball pythons to soak in GatorAid and this gave them their very unusual and very bright colors (every lightly colored part of the snake was colored this way, including the belly). The phenomenon was discovered by accident when they were trying to rehydrate some ball pythons. This process is harmless to the snakes and it doesn't rub off onto your hands (the effect goes away when the snake sheds). The guys weren't selling them as a morph or even at a higher price, but as a marketing gimic. I'm not saying that the the snakes are a hoax, they may actually be hypererythristic. I'm just posting this so that all potential buyers will have a little heads up.

That is weird.
You claim to have fed them already. But they have not shed yet?
Man are you lucky.
Not only do you happen upon some red ball pythons.
You also get snakes that eat prior to their first shed. Although it does happen. it happens rarely.

I have produced only about 200ish animals or so. and I remember only one animal feeding before it shed.
