Indigo guys opinons...............

BobS Oct 13, 2008 03:22 PM

Nobody knows stuff like the Indigo Clan so I thoght I'd ask. A while back I had some type of skin problem with a Black Milk after keeping him with Moist Cypress Mulch in a hide in a large Vision. Scales indented and got hazy in places. Never figured out if it was viral, Bacterial or fungal. I run a super clean collection and this was a surprise.

The question is: I've cleaned an AP rack I had them in with Chlorhexidine glucanate, steam cleaned and even used Chlorox Antibacterial/Viral Wipes and rinsed. Would cleaning with a one cup per gallon of bleach be redundant? (I tend to over due things for peace of mind) Can't take the rack outside to air out and would prefer not to bleach if I don't need to. (Why I bought the Steamer after talking to EPIDEMIC)

Thanks, Sorry for the long post.
Bob.

Hey Bob, did the condition clear up? I had a similar condition happen to my female 08 bamboo rat(coxi). I took her to the vet and he didn't find any fungul, viral, or unusual bacterial infection. She went into a rapid shed cycle and it kind of worked itself out. It occured from me letting her spagnum hide get to wet. I guess you really need to be carefull when using moist hides, but the snakes really like them. I didn't use soap, just antibacterial soap and water, and changed moss. Hope everything turned out ok with yours.
