So i've got that baby turtle..

AndrewFromSoCal Oct 13, 2008 09:45 PM

Still has his egg tooth, and his yolk scar is nearly gone.

But he won't eat.

He ate one phoenix worm ONCE, on either Friday night or Saturday. He is livin' at about 70-80 degrees, and is pretty active when I soak him every day.

But this no eating thing is worrying me. I've only had it for 6 days. :

Any advice?

Patience and try small pieces of earthworms to start, then variety. Good luck

Baby turtles live off the yolk that is stored in their intestines for several weeks to a month. Since it has it's egg tooth still, it is quite young. It may not want to eat for awhile. Don't worry about when it eats-but just keep providing food like small insects, wet water turtle food and chopped, lean cooked meats.

Read the chapter in my online book about hatchling box turtles for more ideas and advice. Tess
