Aquatec vs Pro-Mist

PsyTech Oct 14, 2008 08:59 AM

Hello,

I was thinking about setting up a misting system for a few rainbow boas that I have. I was looking to choose between the Aquatec 8880 and PM-70. Does anyone have any experience with either/both of these and can give a comparison? By looks, they appear to be exactly the same, and also have similar throughput. The Pro Mist is more expensive. I'm not sure if this is a "you get what you pay for", or if the Aquatec is lower priced due to the fact that it seems to be more "commercial".

I'd appreciate any advice or opinions.

Thanks

AS a keeper of dozens of BRB's, I don't mist or have any misting systems. I don't even own a humidity gauge.

I don't know if either misting system is better than the other.

I can tell you a properly set up cage is all you really need to keep BRB's. Like I said before, I have dozens, the oldest ones being 15 years old, most of my collection was raised by me from hatchling. I have not lost a BRB in many years once I figured out the proper caging/care.

Limited ventilation - keeps the humidity and warm air in. Snakes are ectotherms and do NOT need lots of "fresh" air.

Large surface area water bowls - the larger surface area allows more water to evaporate increasing the humidity.

Damp moss hide boxes - provide a nice damp hiding place with even more humidity.

Just my $0.02
