Changing Rodent suppliers,,,difference?

bakeaway Oct 14, 2008 08:01 PM

I changed where I buy my f/t rodents and now some of the snakes are not eating. Of course all the brooks are,,cause they will eat anything,,lol
But does anyone think that different suppliers have rodents that smell different and the animals are set on the old ones?
I hope not,,cause I have 200 mice in the freezer.
Not all are not eating, so it could also be that it is fall.
I usually do not worry til after amonth of no eating,,but it has been for my MBK and one of my gophers....
Thanks

It may just be the time of year. Late in the season it doesn't take much for animals to go off feed.

i have tried several different suppliers for my f/t rodents and while i have one that i prefer, the snakes don't seem to show a preference to any certain one. i suppose it could happen though. i have a bull that won't touch a rat but hammers mice all day long. maybe they do have a different scent than the other supplier. have you tried washing them with ivory soap (rinsing well) and then introducing them? i know a couple people that swear by that scent removal method. if not than i would (if you twisted my arm) take the suspected rodent culprits off your hands and dispose of them properly. well not me personally, unless i was really hungry :0) seriously, imo, it's probably like mentioned before and just that time of year. take care....
