what weight and or age should males, females be before they are bred?
This could be easy or hard to answer (depending on how you look at it). usually males can breed at about 500g but I have heard some breeders say wait until at least 750g. Females (by most opinions) should be in their 3rd winter and at least 1500g. If a female is around 1200g and she is short/stout and not long/thin, I will breed her (if she is too thin there is more of a chance of getting egg bound). Your female should be healthy and well fed before you start the cycling process. No matter what, you should always think carefully before you breed a new female. Do it only if you are sure there is no danger to her health. Never rush a female into breeding. If she isn't ready then wait until next year.
