Hi everyone. I just wanted to get your thoughts on this. It's starting to cool off a little and all my reptiles are starting to hide more, as usual. I plan to let my reptile room get pretty cool at night this winter. My room is set up with big python tanks on one wall, smaller snake racks and geckos on the opposite wall, and my big tank of collareds along the middle wall. I plan to let the room cool down to about 70 degrees at night during October and part of November, with some lights and a little heat during the day. In the later part of November and most of December I will keep it to 70 degrees at night and try to get as low as 65 degrees some nights, again with some lights and heat back on during the days.

The Collareds I don't plan to truly brumate this year, but because they are in this room they will have some cooler night temps. They will have some undertank heat at night but nothing else. During the day I will have their lights back on and some basking heat, as long as it doesn't warm up the room too much.

This usually works well for my snakes and my geckos. Do you think this sounds alright for nonbrumating collareds in the winter? I suppose that this could be alright for them, but maybe I should feed them considerably less during the colder months? and just keep my eyes on them?

I would appreciate any advice.

I'll try and get some pics of my room. That might be a cool idea to get everyone to submit pics of their reptile rooms.

Thanks,

John (Hayseed)
