My last litter for 2008! DUW, 20 pics

rainbowsrus Oct 16, 2008 12:36 PM

Last night I had a nice cap for my 2008 season. Minnie, a het hypo BRB, bred by a visual hypo (hypo is recessive in BRB's) Dropped her litter at POS plus 125. That was my longest BRB gestation of the year and yeah I was watching her like a hawk. I originally though she was not gravid but in the last couple of months she swelled out. Not uber huge but enough to show she was clearly gravid.

11 babies, 4.2 hypo and 0.5 hets

some pics
Ooouuuu, lookie what I see

Baby birthing sequence

The lil ones love to yawn, waking up from their long nap??

They also love to chill in the sacks with "periscope up"

Last baby being born

And last to come out was slug #3

All the babies in a tub, I put them in a sweaterbox tub with damp paper towels and they crawl around and get themselves cleaned up for me

Hey Jeff, Yeah I got carried away with the camera but if you look closely, each is a different shot.

My first hypo BRB litter, greatly anticipated as she was a week overdue and I had not thouht she was gravid early on.

So cool to watch the birthing process, got to witness it on three different litters this year.

Things you get to see that you may not have known, figured oiut or even thought of before like....

Babies are born in groups, when first found, her tail from vent up a foot or so was totally deflated, no babies or anything in there. Then a decent lump and another deflated area. Lastly a longer/larger lump. I watched as these seperate lumps were worked down, sometimes both moving, sometimes only one.
