an interesting arguement.

so i was discussing with someone what the worlds largest snake species was and a thought occured to me during the discussion how have burmese pythons never been included in that topic? were talking of a snake that routinely exceeds 20 ft and over 200 lbs. thats bigger than most green anacondas you'll come across yet they get way more publicity on the matter. sure ill give retics as the biggest well definantly longest(once you've seen 25 of snake its hard to ever question that one) but how did burms not even come up here? im sittin here looking at my 13 foot 60 lb critter that is obviously a massive snake by general populus opinion and ive seen 20 footers and they are by far(especially in captivity where they end up way more rotund than their wild counterparts) larger than any green anaconda i've come across. the largest being a 17ft female that was just over a 100lb. how did these guys get so over looked?

It's funny you assume no one has ever thought of the burm as the largest just because it didn't come up in your conversation. It's been disputed a million times, and is widely accepted as in the top 5 of largest snakes. I don't mean that to sound rude, just don't know how else to word it.

i never said it wasnt thrown in the mix and im well aware of the whole top 5 thing but in the general scheme of things ie: people outside the hobby most people dont even really seem to know how big burms get i mean hell how many times have ya heard of someone at a petstore comparing one to a ball? and the convo was during a presentation i was doin at a grade school my mom teaches at with the resident science teacher who had no idea that burms were such a large snake. like it was one of those well they knew it was bigger species but until they had a good sized one in front of em didnt really understand how big big is. i wasnt saying that their being snubbed by hobbyists and people who are well informed more i guess my arguement was why the general population doesnt hear about it and no worries i didnt take your comment as rude in any kind of way.

Actually i remember like 5-8 years back Serpent safari in gernee il claimed that there burm (baby) was the largest/longest snake in captivity at 24 or 26 ft.
(it was a while ago) She passed away like two years ago and i dont know how old she was. It could have just been a gimick or something....

yea it was like 23-24 foot and 400 lbs or some beef like that. i cant imagine interacting with something that massive. like ive dealt with large constrictors but thats gigormous

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later.
