young Vipera palaestinae

hey there

just wanted to share couple of pix that i took of juvenile Vipera palaestinae,one of the most seen snake in this area {center of israel}-

-he was capture at a friend yard after he surprise him on a wet mint bush {from the first rain in this season} , probably just want to drink tea








the pix were taken under a fluorescent light, at night.

no, all reptiles in israel are protected.

i would love to keep it..

it was released in a field near by.

toxic. most of who i now that get taged was in the hospital for 1 week and more.

yes,they are very common in here.

i let him free in a filed ,all reptiles in israel are protected.

Very cool... When I visited Israel I only saw one DOR. I have two in my collection. Any snake in this Genus (Daboia)is very toxic. D. palestinae has both hemotoxic and neurotoxic components in it's venom.
