silly question i know

i have mostly kings,pits etc,,but i have 1 BP,,,i am re-housing it and was wondering if it really need a basking spot in the daytime?
it has 1 now,,,but in the new larger cage it will not unless i drill one in,,,,

IMO, I don't think a basking lamp is a necessity, but a hot spot, however, is. I wouldn't deny my snake of all light completely, but a heat pad or heat tape can subdue rather than a basking lamp. I feel natural sunlight in the room during the day is sufficient. Its a "to each their own" sort of thing, and more what you (or what you feel your snake) prefers or likes. But in the wild, Ball Pythons prefer dark, tight places -- living in the dens of their rodent pray for days, and hunting mostly at night.

I like those vision cages you have!! Where did you get them from? And are they costly?? A question for a question Thanks in advance!!

thanks for the reply,,,,all my snakes get natural light,,and all my tanks have heat ape,,i will just use the same thrmostat for my ball and jcp,,,,the cages are from reptile basics,,,,love them,,,,
