feeding before breeding

JonathanPG Oct 16, 2008 08:48 PM

is it common for a female to eat A LOT prior to the breeding season, like around now? My female pounds her food like there is no tomorrow and she is well above weight to breed. Or is she just getting ready for the season? Thanks.

She is probably bulking up for the breeding season. Some go off feed then.

My females are being all dainty right now. Consider yourself lucky. You have less to wonder about, as far as if they'll be ready to go.

They'll be alright. Can't argue with them when they're not hungry. Just nerve racking from the pet owner perspective, as I'm sure everyone knows.
