Two more snakes arrived today

brick1 Oct 17, 2008 04:59 PM

i bought a pair of so called het hypos from a german breeder, i mean so called, in the fact i think there is something there, but until it proves it out, we will have to wait and see. They are 06's both about 800grams, and both a very interesting colour. The pictures are pretty much spot on of what there are. The not your average coloured BRB, but you know me, im trying to collect the weird stuff. Has taken about 4months to finally get hold of them, they arrived very cold, and i just quickly weighed them, sexed them (its a pair, but i only found two females, will check again when have settled in). Here they are.

and then the parents, is there something there? i hope so, we will see

what yas think? time will tell i guess, like too many of my little dinking projects!!

cheers

lol, mine get cunfused because first thing I do is put them "in" the closet, then as they grow, I take them "out" of the closet!

That female does "look" hypo to me, overall reduction in color most notably the normally black outlines/markings are muted browns. Of course only breeding trials will prove it for sure without knowing where it came from / who produced it / from what parents. Obviously one coming from Mike (or now me as well ) will have traceability back to the known hypo line and are clearly known hypos.

yeah i guess, into the closet out of the closet, in again, out again and so on. Poor little buggers must be so sexually frustrated sometimes.

Yeah well they 06's so at a push i might get lucky with a late breeding next year. Ive been scouring the email and forums trying to track down the mother. She is in switzerland and thats as far as i got. And i know she came from Holland originally. God its like trying to trace your family tree. Either way, i got enough weird brbs, to produce some pretty weird stuff.

Dave, are you the only one to produce hypos this year? Cant say that i have seen any 08's for sale. So how you gonna set your price now??

Cheers

I only know of one other hypo litter this year.

If that's so, looks like prices will hold for a while, low production = high prices.

I'm not in a hurry to sell them though, want to get them eating well, several meals before I even think of selling them.

Hmmm... those are interesting. Momma looks hypo-ish, but your offspring from them looks almost anery-ish. Definetely something "different"!

yeah there something to them. I may even use the female to get my DH ghosts. By the time my anery boy old enough, i wont have any hypo females, but will have 4 het hypo girls. Its a long shot, but thats where the fun is. Would still end up with het anery, poss hypo. Still not a bad few snakes to have in the collection. I will
Hopefull pair the two new snakes late next year, to see what pops up. Fun fun fun
