What are you wanting to know?

Shadow4108 Oct 19, 2008 02:18 PM

I'm wanting to know everything..LOL I can't seem to find any information on them. I have seen them for sale in my local reptile shop, and she sells them for 125.00. That seems too cheap for me, but she also doesnt know anything about them other than that it just is a color variation. When I mentioned fires are het for black eyed lucy's she looked at me like I was crazy.
Was I wrong? Are they really fires? Does she not know the value of what she is selling?

You're right, fires make the black eyed lucies. Maybe that seller doesn't realize their value, or maybe they're not fires.

Those are NOT Fires if she is selling them for that little. Here is a link to NERD's site for some info.

They didnt seem to know what a fire was, but it did look like the fire in those pictures. hmm..... I think they just don't realize their value. They knew nothing of the different morphs.

Fires, I think she would have paid a good amount, and then sold them at a higher price to the public (marketing). I would ask her where she got them, because if they were bred by a knowlegeable ball breeder then there might be records, but if it was a home breeding and they gave the babies to her you might be able to see the parents and find out from there if it's a fire or not.

Well been giving this some thought.. heres to hoping its a female cause if so, she would still make a good addition to my collection.
will post pics if I end up purchasing.

If the snake in the store has a nice arrow head looking head pattern, it might be worth a shot. If it does not, probably a made up name, based on the light color. The store might have made it up, or the person who produced them might have made it up, and it might have absolutly nothing to do with the Genetic Fires. If the store bought them, ask if they got a receipt, and does the receipt say normals, or Fires. Who was the breeder? If the pet store produced them, ask to see the adult(s).

Beween you and me, I actually bought my Ember and Sulfur adult females at a local store, but the big difference is, I bought mine as normals, on a hunch they might be something other than normal. If you are looking at something labeled as a Fire, chances are it is either a made up name, or wishful thinking.

i got my fire girl as a pet shop drop off from a friend before anyone i think even named them fires. any way i had her for three years before she produced for me and shes atleast 9 years old. as for the shop i tend to not think they aren't really fires but probably a marketing attempt o make them more appealing to the laymen. but heres some pics of mine, mom and fireflys, to compare. email me for some more pics of this years hatchlings.
