Basking Light ?

bakeaway Oct 19, 2008 01:26 AM

I am moving my carpet to a larger cage. But will not be able to make an area for a basking spot til a moth or so.
Do JCPs definately need a basking spot. The cage has heat tape which I could set between 88-90.
Thanks

I kept a pair of adult carpets for several years with no basking lights. I ran a Helix therostat with 11" heat tape under a Vision 332 cage. They seemed happy! My carpets only really used the basking light whe they were babies.
Good Luck!

Although not necessary, mine appreciate the overhed heat source (RHP), and I feel it helps prevent them from becoming lethargic, as they need to move around, climb, and perch to thermoregulate. Short term they should be fine, though.
