Is it possible?

Helena1 Oct 19, 2008 09:54 AM

Is it possible that my bps are mating and I'm not seeing it? maybe at night? They have been together for 2 weeks or so. I have two pairs. They are getting cooled. When I look into their tubs, they are sitting there either sort of close to each other or on the other side of their tubs. I even switched the males at one point. Maybe I'm just too worried, or maybe its not in the cards for me. I have been raising these guys for a long time.

I think you're a little over anxious . In general it's a bit early for breeding. Last year my pair didn't even start hooking up till December even though they were housed together from the previous October. You can continue to leave them together till about February or switch off and seperate them every other week for a week for a rest and maybe a meal. One or two weeks together and/or one or two hook ups does not gaurantee a clutch of eggs. Good luck.

They could be breeding and your not catching them... It takes a lot of time and patients they will breed when they are ready.

they breed for hours and hours....some for days almost

it will happen when it happens......

it is early....I didn't start yet

.....and if you don't have blue light bulbs on and play Barry White's greatest hits....it might never happen......

( Barry Manilow played and they will NEVER breed......ever )...

are u making fun of me?

jyohe Oct 19, 2008 07:25 PM

I am not actually making fun of YOU NO..

...you won't miss it....trust me.....

you'll do fine...I mean...they'll do fine...if it's a boy and a girl......you'll see ....

....

if I was really funnin....I would have told you to wash them in strawberry scented shampoo ........

......I'mm just talkin is all......

....good luck........and after I read this and all the other "breeding now" and when do they lay posts...I actually put all the males in with females a couple hours ago to see what happens.......it hasn't been that long ago that the last eggs actually hatched....soooo.....

so far the only real chaser is the young stud of a mojave with his girlfriend the ghost girl....she was a virgin till he met her a couple times before a couple weeks ago......so they know each other....the others are older and all know the routine and they are just all hanging out...so it's early....don't worry....

Strawberries he he.

I just didn't want people to think I was being a dumb, non-research person. I know that the spider and the pastel are boys and the normals are females. I just am nervous.

It depends on how often you're checking them and how long they're going at it for. I've gotten eggs from pairs that I've never witnessed a copulation from.

So, I posted n earlier message and I was told it was time to start pairing them. Was i misinformed? Should I separate and wait?

check out my reply a few posts down to Insoms thread. It is a fairly general reply, and would apply to your situation.

Cliff Notes version- it is very VERY early : )
