the lady I got him from said he is a red tail...I am beginning to wonder though...

I couldn't tell you for sure, but I agree it looks like something from central America. The people on the Boa forum would give you a much more precise ID. Try posting it there.

Aren’t your Nicaraguan and close surrounding species have circle or semi circle backs? That would be my guess as far as local.
