Link to current PARC Model Herp Regs

OHI Oct 20, 2008 01:51 PM

All,

I may have things confused but not sure. Here is a link to the current PARC Model Herp Regs:

http://www.parcplace.org/documents/HERPETOFAUNA Regulatory Guidelines.pdf

I don't know if the copy I was sent to comment on is updated or just the same as the link above. I don't have time to go through it and compare.

I will write to Polly Conrad and ask her.

Thanks,

All,

I got an email from Polly and she said that the copy I received for comment is the same one that is on the National PARC website. So use the link above to see the current document and send her your comments, suggestions and opinions. Here is your chance to try and make a difference.

The fact is the Herp Industry is under attack as never before. It is being attacked at state levels, federal levels, and even from within. Mike I think your comments are correct and should ring a bell for everyone. One of the problems is that many people somehow believe the laws won't be applied to them or that "its not going to be passed" so I'll do nothing. Your dead on the money about P.A.R.C. There's been almost no info solicited by them from this industry period. I believe some of us are victims of the "Stockholm Syndrome" and somehow identify and agree with our enemies. Please do not be discouraged and keep posting....TC

Hey Tom,

Thanks. The "Stockholm Syndrome?" I didn't think of that. That could be why so many people support groups and positions they should obviously disagree with or are self-destructive in the long run. I also think that they are doing some butt-kissing and brown-nosing as well.

I just gotta say again, there is an inbred mentality within the academic and government game manager societies. Here is the model, the way I see it -- Academics train government wildlife managers. Academics must go hat in hand to government wildlife managers for grant money to operate. The "State" pays their salaries, for Heaven's sake -- the very people they groomed with their philosophy. It's a closed loop of wildlife management philosophy. A symbiotic relationship of one hand feeding the other. They're all in the same club. They're both dependent upon one another for their very justification and existence.
I'm not judging them, good nor bad, just stating the facts.
That is why input from private sector stakeholders is so critical. Their perspective alone should not be the final word.
