Dear All,

I really need your help now! Yesterday, when I came back home, I found there was a dark red "blood ball" beneath my radiated's anus. My radiated is only 3 inches long, and the ball is the same size as a small cherry!! After checking carefully, I found this ball is part of his/her large intestine!! I thought there may be some calculus jam in his/her intestine, and tried to dig it out. After trying few minutes, I got nothing out from his/her intestine. Then I called my friend, and got the suggestion to push the outside intestine back into his/her anus. I did it very carefully, and after 1.5 hr, I push it back eventually! It doesn't come out again until I send this email. My tortoise is still active, with wide-opened eyes, and roam around smell everything.

Dear colleagues, did you encounter such problems before? Do you know why it happened? What is the best way to treat it? Will it affect my tortoise's health? Will the large intestine and anus work normally from now on? Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. I'm really really nervous about it's health now. Please help me. Thanks a million.

Regards,

Zheng

Do you have any veterinary experience of this proceedure?
This small cherry was proberbly a prolapse, definatly best dealt with by a vet.
Did you wash the affected part before you tried to force it back in?

I only hope that no infection sets in & that the little fellow survives otherwise you'll be needing a vet & a big bank account$$$$$$$$
