Finally got my little girl

PunkRockLauren Oct 20, 2008 04:48 PM

Sorry, no pics yet...my camera crapped out on me. I just moved into my new house so no internet yet either, so I'm borrowing my In-Laws' wifi.

It took a couple of days, but I've finally got her habitat regulated. I had a small heating pad, but it wasn't doing jack **** to heat the cage...so I took it back and got a light, put plastic sheeting over the top of the light (the top doesn't get hot) and so far her enclosure is about 80 degrees in the warm spot and humidity is about 80-90. I handled her last night and this morning, and she was very good, no bites...she just wanted to go go go. We decided to name her Lola.

We're going to a reptile show next sunday so I can pick up some meals for her...she has been eating fuzzies, but honestly I think she could go a little bigger, because the fuzzy really didn't leave a noticeable lump in her. I read on rainbowsrus's care sheet that babies can eat hoppers...is that a size up from the fuzzies? I want to get my money's worth on food and I want her to have a full stomach.

I'm going to borrow my mom-in-law's camera, so expect pics in the next few days.

Lauren

Congrats, Lauren!!!

You'd be amazed at how big a weaned mouse a newborn BRB can eat as it's first meal. mice sizes go...
born - pinky
week old got hair - fuzzy
2 weeks old, eyes open and running around cage - hopper
3 weeks old could be weaned but better left with mom
4 weeks old weaned.

I'd go with the 2 1/2 ish weeks old hoppers unless yours is grown some or small, adjust accordingly.
