Bull Loves Water

RKD Oct 20, 2008 05:19 PM

My bull snake love to hang out in the water especially when it been freshly changed. He does not have mites. Is this normal behavior for a bull snake? I didn't think bull snakes liked water very much but mine loves to hang out in it. What's going on?

Check your cage temp. It could be too warm in its opinion and it may be using the water bowl to regulate its temperature. Cage temp should be in the low 80s during the day. Any warmer than the mid 80s for porlonged periods may trigger a move to water.

You cage temps may be too high like was already mentioned, but some snakes just like water more then others do. My temps are good in my snake room & as soon as I give everybody fresh water (twice a week) one of my Mexican milks floods his cage right away, no big deal though, I use freedom breeder caging so it dries up pretty quik.
