Frogs mated please help.

KaioSama Sep 07, 2003 12:34 PM

Hi, my neighbor gave me a tank with 2 frogs, one being albino, the other green and a Tiger Salamander in april. They were all living in water with only a rock as their land. Well the tiger salamander died a few months ago and now it was just the frogs. I have no clue what species they are (sorry) but the albino one looks like the frog I've seen on a box of bloodworms, sorry don't know company. I have no idea where to find that stuff out. My neighbor had them for years andf they never bred. I thought maybe this was because of the tiger salamander. Well i saw the albino on the big green one last night and now this morning the albino is like puts gravel rocks into his mouth and digging around. Is he looking for nesting material or something? How can i ensure that the tadpoles (if they did indeed mate) are laid and grow? Sorry for not having the information of the species or anything. Just kinda nervous now.

Adam

I was looking at pictures on the internet and hey both look like African clawed frogs. What Í wasn't so sure of though is the difference in their eyes. The albino has like little pegs with the red eye inside them where as the green one does not. But I have seen pictures of both. So, does this sound right?

It does sound right... if they're fully aquatic and you have an albino of one they probably are ACFs.

Anyway, I'm really sad that the tiger sal died, but that's what happens when they're both in the same tank and they don't even live the same way. Tiger sals aren't even that aquatic, are they?

Also, there is plenty of information available about ACFs so just read up on them and post under the aquatic frogs forum. Good luck

Take a look at the message board over at www.petfish.net

The other moderator of the aquatic frog board there knows alot about ACFs. (The board was just recreated a few days ago, thats why there are so few posts)
