slew of questions on my female

luvmyhydra Oct 22, 2008 11:12 AM

Ok, I got my female a month ago. She hasn't eat since early September. She has been refusing meals with me. Today I go past her tank and she is in full shed. The milky color the blue eyes everything. She was bred last year by her previous owner but she never produced eggs. Is it possible she did sperm retention and is now gravid? Or is this just a coincidence that she is refusing to eat and gone into a shed? She shed just 2 1/2-3 months ago so this seems pretty close together for a full grown BP to me?

Sprem retention is a possiblity but I would not neccaseary run with that yet? What did she eat before when she was feeding? Rats, mice, live- prekilled? Also Since you have had her for a short time what did the previous owner feed? Also how big is she? It is possible that she just doens't like what you are offering her or the way you are offering it to her (prekilled or live). There are a lot of possiblilities.

Does she look like she has eatten anything, does she have any strange behaviors such as laying on her back?

With out knowing the answers to these questions I would say she is more then likely going on a fast or stressed do to homing changes a simply sheding like normal.

What type of cage do you have her in also if she is only staying on the hot side I would check your temps your cage may be too cold. She should use both hot and cold sides.

Let me know what you find out.

shes in a long 20 gal but yesterday she moved from her hot side to other side. shes moved again to the middle. soon as she sheds i'll try to feed her. i doubt she is gravid it's just weird that she hasn't eat in 2 months and goes into a shed.
