OUT OF MY HAND!! LOL!
Lucky me she was a small one. My adult female hog isle female, 4 1/2 - 5ft, nailed me good on my middle finger. I reached in for her middle, and even though I washed off first, she must have got a hint of rat aroma wafting around the room... whipped back about two feet and CHOMP! Funny thing is while my brain was thinking "pull hand back fast" she was already sinking in. So... long story short (too late) I still pulled back while she did the same, and she left me three gifts. Lost two of them, but managed to get a picture of my first extracted (out of myself) boa tooth! After checking her mouth, I decided she was fine, a bit confused at that horrible taste in her mouth, but friendly and curious. I felt so bad for the misunderstanding I gave her the rats she was obviously fantasizing about!

Ouch right in the finger. Thats a big tooth to get into that finger haha.

I got tagged the other day when I was bringing one of my 4 foot males outside to stretch out in the sun. Lucky for me it was just a quick boom to the arm and he still has relatively small teeth. I still can't figure out what may have led him to strike me, but I am sure it was my fault whatever it is, becuase that the first bite every from him.

Oh well, it's all a learning process (and we do indeed pay for our mistakes).

Dont they....
Sorry bout your luck there... I tell you..I can be thawing rats at the other end of my house..out in the garage and they go into "feed" mode. Plus the room they are in is pretty airtight.
That is a good sense of smell.
I dont fool with any snakes after I pull rats out of the rat freezer.
I guess it's good it happened nice and quick...

but definitely the first time I've had anything left behind in the wound! Usually I see it coming and wait it out, let the snake let go on their own, this time I pulled too! My mistake of course! I can usually tell when my snakes are in feeding mode, but she was completely relaxed and fooled me! LOL! Normally I mist them lightly to let them know I'm coming in, because they are waiting at the glass for me to open it!
I feel pretty lucky, for five and a half years of raising boas/pythons, only one bite that I can pull teeth out of is pretty dang good methinks! Got one in the lip my 2nd year and another face shot my 3rd, hate to admit that kind of stupidity honestly, but mostly I've only been bitten on the arm/hands and always my own fault. Never by a snake over 6ft... knock on wood!

It is so hard to covince your mind to leave finger in mouth! I have a few finger eaters as well one of wich will probably never lose the taste for Joel burger Ha!!

Just keep an eye on her to make sure she does not develope an infection, she will probably be fine though.
