but..um after/while they are in shed (vip book) are all good indicators to introduce the male... any tips why you guys do it?

Then shedding and hugging the water bowl on their backs and sides are signs of them being gravid not ready to breed. As long as both snakes are heath and up to a good breeding size I would say you can introduce them at any time.

do note that sheding is a normal for snakes a well, also they may just like to coil the water dish I guess, but if you see them laying on their back there are most likely eggs for sure. The other signs are thing we look for after we introduce the male to help us confirm the fact. Also if she has a lump- looks like she eat but hasn't eatten in a long time, this is anouther sign we look for.

Hopefully she just an odd ball.
