Yes, warm water will heat it up perfectly. Some people drop the frozen mouse into the warm water to that and warm it quickly. Some people put the mouse into a water tight container and float that on top of the warm water and it thaws and warms more slowly but does not lose as much mouse smell.

Also an added benefit of the "water tight container and float that on top of the warm water " is that the prey animals tend to "stay together better". When just putting them in water I have had legs, tails, heads, and my least favorite bellies get ripped out leaving a very NASTY smelling flow of innards!!!

I now defrost in frig or open air in snake room and use a 5 gallon bucket lined with newspaper floating in a 25 gallon container with an warm water and an airtight lid. Works very well.

Its actually not floating. The five gallon bucket is held in place by the 25 gallon bucket lid and the 5 gallon bucket is also pushed beneath the waters surface so that 3/4 of the 5 gallon bucket is surrounded by the warm water but it can't get inside the bucket to "wet" the feeders.

How much does being anal help out in successfully keeping, raising and breeding snakes?

I know it can and is done by folks who have no idea what to do or what specifically to provide and when. But by being anal, keeping records and adjusting your methods to incorporate what you have learned I honestly believe it has made me a better, more productive breeder.

This last year is a prime example, out of many attempted breedings, I only had one slugfest. And discounting a few young virgin females that did not take (probably immature) on the 10 litters I did have the average litter size was 17.3 babies. That includes several first time litters with lower numbers including one litter of only 5 babies. Looking at only the proven breeder females, the average was 20.8

Well, I don't have any green sanzania, but here are some pics of my geckos, since I notice your sig has a couple of them in it:

First, my crested asleep in her vines:

And my leopard looking annoyed that there's always another hand - clearly she's thinking, "Someday he won't be paying attention, and then I'm going all the way up his arm!"

LOL!

Great looking crestie there!

My geckos were both rescues. Fiona the Biting Gecko who Has Not Bitten Lately is a golden gecko, who pretty much hates/ is terrified of people.

My leo gecko, Petzel, is very sweet, if a little slow.

Your leo is very pretty! Mine's just a standard.

Thank you for the compliments! We definitely love them both. The crestie is sort of our overexcitable court jester, while the albino leo pretends to be grumpy but is really a softy at heart. My brother and his wife have far more reptiles than my girlfriend and I do, including a golden who is flighty as all get out. I think that's just a characteristic of that species - scared of everything, hates to be handled, amazing jumpers, and super fast!

few diff ways but putting in warm water works fine but always start with warm water and go a lil slow specialy with bigger rodents you dont wanna thaw outside and have half slushy cold insides.

some ppl when only have a single rodent just put in a sealed baggy in fridge early morn then at nite put in warm water or under heat lite so its already thawed just gotta warm up.
