Snake ID Help

mikesnake Oct 24, 2008 06:31 AM

I found this little guy in Cedar Hill State Park in Texas. At first I thought it was an earth snake, but it had a red belly. I'm thinking maybe worm snake or ground snake, but am unsure. Thanks for any help!

That looks like a Black-headed Snake, Tantilla gracilis.

Thanks for the quick response! That was one snake I hadn't thought of, mainly because I'd never seen one!
