to worry or not to worry...

so our little BRB shed last night..
it was his second shed for us. the shed came off in one piece and looked like everything went smoothly. so i took him out for further inspection and i noticed it looks like he may have tore a scale off on his head while scratching to get the shed loosened. it's just a little white spot where a scale used to be right in the middle of his head. there is no deep wound, no blood, no scarred tissue, just a missing scale. anything i should know or look for? thanks guys!

Should be just fine and will heal in a couple pof shed cycles. Of course you should keep an eye on it!!!!

Thanks a ton Dave!
I like staying on top of my animals well being, and the missing scale kind of threw me off. I figured this is the place to ask.

Jason,
...Little BRBs only very rarely pull one of those top center of the head scales off when shedding. Little Colombian and Argentinian Rainbows do it fairly often. Like Dave said it will clear up after several sheds but do keep an eye on it for signs of infection.

Wonder if i got sold another species labeled as a Brazilian..
I'll try to get some pics of him up soon.
I bought him at a reptile show in West Palm Beach, FL. Unfortunately I not ask many questions from the guy selling em'.
Just thinking.....
and thanks Jeff!

Jason,
...Little BRBs do lose that scale, just not as often as some other snakes. Little Reticulated Pythons do it very often. In Rainbow Boas I have never had one of them get infected or not clear up after a few sheds.

This happened to one of our adult females recently. As long as it doesnt get infected you should be fine. Hers is getting better with each shed.
