I am ordering custom cages and want to know if a 4x2x2 divided into two cages (2x2x2) would be adequate for my ball. He's 3 ft and not getting any bigger. I have checked care sheets and all but want to check here as well.

Yes. I sometimes use a vision cage 36x28x18 with plenty of cover for my larger ball pythons as a break from rack life...you've got plenty of floorspace there.
