Scarlet nutrition Q

54podge Oct 24, 2008 10:52 AM

I read some posts by Bluerosy where he mentioned that pinkies offer relatively little nutrition. I have a juvy scarlet king that I have been feeding 3-4 pinks per week, and I am concerned he may not be getting all he needs. Given that their head is so small, I cannot see going much larger than a fuzzy. Is the fuzzy any more nutritious than a pink? Do I give him even more pinks instead? Should I try a hopper (man, that seems big for him.....) He is between 16-18 inches long.

Thanks

Pinkies are fine.
Sure, if your Scarlet will take a fuzzy or hopper that would be even better.
I have a multistrata that would not eat anything w/ hair on it. (so I shaved every hopper before feeding...only joking) She fed like this for months, only eating pinkie mice. She is a fine looking large adult now.
I know of one breeder that feeds primarily pinks to his North American milks.
Just keep feeding.

what else can you feed milks besides mice.. I wanted to give my milk a fish or something, just to watch, and for a little change of pace. Is that safe?
