The general consensus seems to be that the most toxic rattler is the mojave green, but I've also heard others say that in actuality, it's the tiger rattlesnake. So what is it really?

If C.Tigris is the most toxic, then how did the mojave get that rep?
People come into contact with mojaves more often. Mojaves are a lot more likely to bite. Tigers are pretty mellow. And tigers inject one hell of a lot less venom than a mojave. The LD50's are fairly close though but that is mice.

In order to get the answer you desire, you may have to be more specific in the questions you ask. Do you mean which rattlesnake has the most toxic venom? Or, do you mean which rattlesnake is most likely to kill you if you get bit?
The answer to the first question is the answer Bill gave. The answer to the second is more likely to cause a bit of a debate... the Mojave, Canebrake (certain populations are quite neurotoxic), Western diamondback and the Eastern diamondback are all good candidates to put you in a pine box if you are bitten and do not receive proper medical attention. Very few people die from rattlesnake bites if they receive proper medical treatment soon after the bite....

"Seek first to understand, then to be understood"
as far as toxicicity let's not leave out c.durissus/neotropical rattlesnakes or c.viridis concolor/ midget faded rattlesnake. these i understand to be quite neurotoxic.
If north american, I would definately agree with bud, if we are talking which is most likely to kill if you are bitten, I would definately say a neotropical species of rattler such as dryinus or durissus.

I know that because of their size, some of the larger diamond backs and neotropicals would inject a greater amount of venom, but I was talking about quality over quantity (once for once toxicity). I was always under the impression that title belonged to C.scutulatus, but then I heard others say that it was actually C.tigris that was the most toxic, so I was just wondering.
