Got to share this

This isn't the most exciting thing for most people expecting animal news, but this is the coolest thing I have in regard to husbandry.

I just set up my misting system which is pretty cool....but it is regulated on the Herpstat Humidity and I can't say enough good things about this thing. You can set a range of humidity for it to regulate (obviously) but you can decide if you want it to constantly be reading from the sensor and stay at that range, or take readings every 3 minutes or however many hours you want. Then you can set how long you want the humidity device on for (in my case the device is a powerful misting system by aquatech).

I have it taking a reading every 7 minutes and staying on for 3 minutes at a time. It only kicks on if the reading falls below 70% humidity. Once it got to the target, my Animal Plastics cages are holding it there incredibly well at 74%. (my target is between 70% - 77% ... I feel lucky or something)

I was a little worried the snakes would move the misting nozzles and accidentally get the sensor wet and mess everything up so I asked Spyder Robotics how bad this would be...and my gosh was I shocked at how cool this system is. They went with a very expensive sensor for this product because they wanted it to be as fool proof as possible. This sensor actually has a mini heater inside it that kicks on to try and dry it off if it gets wet. WOW

I am very very happy I went with this product and I have not even begun to play with the countless features I guess this thing has. Spyder Robotics said it has more features than any of their other products.

For the tree boa people...I suggest you consider this device.

Im going to try and get some today after work and throw them up here. I will get some shots of behind my cages so you can see the complete chaos of electrical devices running next to the moderately organized water tubes.

SoLA,

Thanks for the report! That seems to be a very good product!

Much was it, if you dont mind to say?
How many cages can you control with a single device?

Do you have a link to their website?

Sorry, too many questions..

Sorry, been away for a bit and didn't get the pictures done. I have had one tree boa with a bit of an eye problem and I myself got a little sick. Still catching up.

Anyway. The herpstat humidity device has one probe so it only regulates one enclosure. But since most of my cages are equal size in this room, I have them all running on it. The misting system itself can run up to 75 nozzles but I'm running 12 currently.

I do have 2 cages that are twice the size with 2 nozzles in them that is run on the same Herpstat Humidity, but it is anacondas and I am honestly not quite as concerned about them having as regulated of an environment. The neotropical colubrids and the tree boas are what the focus of the system is for...anything else (like anacondas) just gets a little added benefit.
