PARC will seek comment on Kingsnake

OHI Oct 25, 2008 03:37 AM

All,

I received an email from Polly Conrad of the NV Department of Wildlife and she has informed me that PARC will officially post a copy of the PARC Model Herp Regs on Kingsnake in the next few months. PARC has a Nov/Dec meeting coming up where she says that this will be finalized but sees no obstacles. I have not spoken to Jeff Barringer about this but I assume it will be okay.

It is vitally important for the industry to respond to this request. Polly is very serious about getting our input. I know things between privates and professionals are very strained but this will be a chance to give your opinion. Polly assures me that all comments will be reviewed and taken under advisement. This opportunity to, hopefully, shape the PARC Model Herp Regs could have beneficial affects for our industry. PARC is primarily made up of academics and agency biologists and these regs could help shape your states herp laws and regs.

We need to start building partnerships with those in power so we can move forward. The conservation of herps is important to all of us. The hobbies and businesses we enjoy need to be protected. This means we all need to get involved or else others will make decisions about what we can and can not do. Take the time to get involved.

I have had conversations with Polly Conrad as well as others regarding the PARC model herp regs and have already given them some input. We welcome PARC's posting them here officially to give our community an opportunity to submit their input and suggestions as well.

Once it occurs we will make site announcements making everyone aware to make sure as many people as possible have an opportunity to comment.

Thanks Mike. Don't care what anybody says about you. You're all right in my book.
