surprised by JCP temperament!

earth_intruder Oct 25, 2008 11:06 PM

I just got my first carpet python, a baby JCP, and based on friends' advice I'd been preparing myself for a nippy little monster, but so far he's as docile as my corn snakes!

Are there a lot of JCPs this mellow? Do they just have bad reputations?

I also have a baby JCP and shes as sweet and docile as a bunny. So I thought, "Man I think these guys have a bad reputation" so I went to a local breeder to pick up a second carpet baby...and Holy Crap!!!!!!!! It was an absolute DEMON! LOL

It snapped at us the second we removed the lid of its encolsure and kept snapping at the air for about 10 minutes. It was kind of cute but confirmed to me that like cats dogs and even humans, snakes have their own temperament. So in my humble opinion, every animal is different.

90% of the time, Babies are like demons, at least as far as JCP's and coastals, certain babies arent that bad and others take a year to out grow it its just a stage.

I bought 8 new carpets in the past four months, and out of all of them, four are nice the other four are mean as hell and the nice ones are Ij's and Bredli's and my 3 month old jaguars they still try to kill me when i take them out but once there out there perfect.

the babies are scarier than the adult counterpart

So true. A few years ago I bought my first carpet and I eventually sold him because he was just too aggressive. I tried again just recently and to my surprise hes a complete angel.
