I,m occasionally getting Geryon to sit still for petting. How well do Collareds tame do they like being handled or are they so hyperactive that they won't sit still for long for anyone?

I don't think any of my lizards like to be petted per se. I have several that lick my hand, and will jump up on it. I'll put my finger in front of their faces and let them lick because it familiarizes them to me. One way to make them super friendly is to hand feed them. I have two kansas Eastern males that are just puppy tame, and both will take a cricket right out of my hand. I guess I kinda scratch them on the side of the head a little, and they are good with that.

I have changed some things in the past year or so, but when a few of my old timers free roamed the reptile room they would actually follow me around the room while I was feeding the guys in the tanks.
Some would be up my leg as soon as I walked in the room. I think these guys are probably one of the most friendly lizards out there. And yes I goochy them all the time, some even turn their head to the side while ya scratch lightly on their neck.

BUT>>> I also think jumping and having a good time is part of their healthy behavior, so be glad they are active.

Does goochy mean kissing? I kiss my lizards on the head and my vet gets sooo upset! He thinks I'm gonna die of coodies!

Nah, ya got it wrong! He's upset because he thinks you're going to give the lizards Cooties!!! LOL. But seriously, all my lizards get a big wet one on the top of the head..even the one's who don't like me!

ROFLOL! I'm gonna give all mine big fat wet ones today and say "THAT one is from Maureen!" LOL!
