Pit poop Q? part 2!!

Atlas511 Oct 27, 2008 11:10 AM

I just want to start with a thanks! I appreciate all the help from everyone on the taming and the other poop Q. Like I said before I just bought my first Pits. Heres the question... why is there poop soo messy? it looking nothing like python/ boa poop. I understand there are coloubrids but there poop seems very messy compared to kings... I also noticed small clumps in it that look like hair balls, Is that normal?

Can someone post a pic of there pits poop please. just so i can have piece of mind!

Thanks guys!

Their feces can be runny and smell bad. Clumps of hair is normal. It seems to me that Pits don't digest fur as well as other snakes. I don't have a pic, maybe someone else can post one.

I was thinking/hoping the same on digestion. The hair clumps look kinda like mini curled dred locks.. What does yours look like? The hair seems to be bunched up seperate from the actual feces.

Although my pits' crap can vary, most of it, for me, is pretty solid and doesn't smell as bad as what others are experiencing. Thing is, they make up for it in quantity, like you wouldn't believe!! ha ha!!

is there ever the stringy clumps of hair in it?

DISCERN Oct 27, 2008 08:11 PM

I do believe there may be some hair at times.

It's like if you took the size of one of my kingsnake's poop and multiply it x 20.4...then that is the total package, stamp and all!!! ha ha!!

I made the mistake of feeding doves to my bullsnakes once. That was the worst mess I have ever seen. The smell and feathers all over the enclosure was enough to make you sick. Either I use to it or my snakes don't really smell that bad because I don't really smell them.
