SEWERFest anyone?

coolluigi007 Oct 27, 2008 11:14 AM

Hey everybody,
I was wondering if anyone else got a chance to go to SEWERFest in WI yesterday? I was really a great show. Pretty small, but there isn't alot of choices up in the MN area for shows. I managed to pick up three balls (Thanks jim) and get my girlfriend and her mom, who are deathly scared of snakes, to touch some at the show. (Thanks again jim) lol. I was just wondering if anyone else got to go see the show?

I was there and unfortunately didn't feel the same way as you do. I thought it was kind of dull and crappy. I liked the poisonous snakes, but there wasn't much else. I was expecting more.

So I'll rephrase, the show was cool but it did not meet my expectations.

Ah I see, well, it was the first expo I have been too. Like I said, there isn't much in the north midwest that is easy to get too. I'm hoping to get too another one this year and then a few next year. I've heard good things about the one in Dupage County.

Not much different than sewerfest. I will say, it's bigger and has more reptiles, but lots of dogs and stuff too. I go every time but thats because I need rats.

EricWI Oct 27, 2008 03:23 PM

I went yesterday. It was OK compared to previous shows; it seemed to noticeably empty out at around noon-1 and there weren't as many vendors there as the August show.

CrotalusCo Oct 28, 2008 12:55 AM

Erik, yes it was quite slower than august. It however has grown pretty good since last year. I think turnout was a bit slower both for vendors and customers due to the economy. Heck even Tinley was slower this year.

Sewerfest is not a regional show like Tinley, Its a local show. While the herp community is small in Wisconsin we are working on increasing our numbers.

Remember everyone we have to support our local reptile communities if we want them to grow.

That sure is an interesting name. Acronym or not, it just doesn't bring to mind a pleasant experience...

Robyn

We only have two shows twice a year in Wisconsin. SEWERfest stands for South East Wisconsin Exotic Reptiles fest. The other show is WIRE WIsconsin Reptile Expo. Now both are small compared to the Tinley Park show. Which is less then two hours away. Both shows are nice sized for the area`s. I am a vendor at both, and I am the promoter for the WIRE show. Now both of these shows are Captive breed only. Also no birds, cats, and or dogs. These are both reptile only shows. Hope that clears up a couple of things. By the way keep up the great work on the desert project

See now, the WIRE show doesn't sound malodorous like the Sewerfest : )

I wish you success with both : )

Thanks for the comments on the Deserts, they have proven to be fascinating balls.

Thanks again for the snakes Jim, they're settling in very nicely. I'm still kinda wishing that I should've grabbed up the Mojave and Yellowbelly from you too, but oh well, there is always the next show.
