As far as I know there are at least three lines, Sillwater line, John Cherry "Superhypo" line, and the generic line(not sure who founded this one. Someone should be able to respond with the founder of the one I call generic, I just can't think of it right now, although I think it may have originated in Iowa.

The third one I was thinking of was the Melzer Iowa hypo line. Wouldn't be surprised if there were more though.

Is there any way to "test" compatability? besides breeding them?

DISCERN Oct 27, 2008 03:55 PM

The Meltzer Iowa Hypo line is actually an outcrossed line, so it is not an actual locality hypo, FWIW.

how do you know if they are compatible? besides breeding?

DISCERN Oct 27, 2008 10:18 PM

Other than breeding, I wouldn't know how to tell if any genes are compatible.
