Quick question

BCRherps Oct 27, 2008 12:41 PM

My Female Ball Python who I assume is 4-5 months old is only 20 inches long. I was wondering if this is normal? I am new to snakes but not to Reptiles in general so please reply!

If anyone wants to see a picture just ask

most of the time going by weight is a better way to gage if the snake is doing ok

how much does it weigh? what are you feeding it? and how often?

Thanks for the reply!

Let me say first that I actually don't know if it is a male or female I meant to just say "My Ball Python" and not mention female I just call her a female cause I think it fits but anyway let me answer your questions

I just weighed her and she weighs either point Three Kilograms or point Six, Five pounds

I feed her once a week and when I feed her she eats a Rat pup and a fuzzy but lately all she will eat is the rat pup and I have to feed the fuzzy to my Bearded Dragon

hard to figure out your weights exactly

my baby albinos usually have been eating 1-2 rat pups depending on size a week. Some have been on the larger side more weaned. The babies are running around 100grams and they were born mid september.

if the snake will only eat that one kind have you tried to feed x2 pups? that is a way to work up to bigger sized food

ball pythons can be very picky on what/when they will eat
