Hey guys I just got my first BRB and i wanted to know if this setup is okay. The temp on the cool side is low to mid 70's (about 72 degrees) and warm side is about 85. The humidity is about 100% percent and i cant get it to go down. I tried drilling hole and have a small water dish. I want to know if the humidity is too high.
Thanks in advance

100% humidity much of the time is fine. 100% all of the time is probably a little too wet. Damp or wet substrate some of the time is good. Damp or wewt substrate all of the time can cause problems. Give the cage a little time and see what the humidity is then. If it stays at 100% and you are using a wet substrate try getting some of the moisture out if it.
Good luck,
Jeff

Thanks Jeff
I am using dry paper towel at the moment, but i suppose i could drilla few more holes in the top. I live in a humid place anyway

It is very humid here also but indoor humidity when the heating or air conditioning are on is very very low. What are you using to measure the humidity? Stick on hygrometers are famous for being inaccurate. With 100% humidity there will be condensation on the inside of glass.

LOL,

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I have NO hygrometers of any kind. I go with the "if it's shedding properly, it must be humid enough" rule. That said I do make adjustments to individual cages to help humidity, moss box here, move water bowl there.

All my babies are in smaller enclosures, shoebox racks to be exact. The smaller tubs hold the humidity better.

Like Jeff said, condensation is a great seat of the pants hygrometer, lotsa condensation to the point it's soaking the substrate is too much humidity IMO. No condensation at all is typically not enough.

Got more details on the setup?

Personally I'd like to see the cool temps stay right ther while the hot temps drop a little to say 82 max.

And yeah, short term 100% is OK , long term you'll be fighting mold and mildew.

Sounds like more ventilation is in order. Wow, I think this may be the FIRST time I've ever recommended more ventilation!! Usually telling folks that too much ventilation is why they have too little humidity.

And we always love pics, of your BRB and your setup!!!!
