Vision BP rack heating ???????????

mingdurga Oct 27, 2008 03:43 PM

Bought a BP-V70 rack last year from Vision. Just bought a temp gun recently, and discovered the temps in rack are not warm enough. Have the heat rope tape in the bottom back hooked up to my herpstat D thermostat. Set daytime @ 90, and ND at 84, but temps in all 11 shelfs barely make 80 in the back.

Has anyone used flexwatt or UT under the boxes? Tight fit since it will touch the boxes. Really need the back area at 88 degrees during the day. Don't trust the rope tape without a thermostat.

Any tried and true suggestions welcomed.

Thanks,

Mike Perez

What is the average room temps where the racks are located? Does the Herpstat indicate the target temp is being reached? The Herpstat allows you to check the percentage of power that is going to the heat element. What average percentage is it reading?

Mike,

Depending on where you place the probe, you may or may not get a cage temp that is similar to the temp you set on the thermostat.

Based on what you wrote, I am guessing that you placed the probe too close to the heat cable.

Back it off a bit, or, just adjust the temp up on your thermostat to a higher temp to allow the heat from the cable to heat your tubs up to the desired temp.

Feel free to give us a call and we will be happy to walk you thru it.

The rack comes with plenty of cable to reach your desired temps.

Everything on the herpstat is working just fine, average temps, etc.

I do have the probe touching the heat rope, but I'll move it now.

The high temp. was boosted to 97 and the ND to 85.

Will post if this problem rights itself.

The problem with placing the probe too close to the heat cable is that the probe is reading the temp of the heat cable and not the temp inside the tub.

If you set the thermostat at 90, the probe will allow the heat cable to get to 90, but it will not allow the heat cable to get warm enough to warm the tubs to 90.

Probe was moved about 2" from cable and temps have gone up in the tubs by 7-8 degrees, though it varies at different levels.

Temps aren't the same at every level, but it's better than before.

Thanks for all the input.

Mike
