breeding?

adamig Oct 27, 2008 07:30 PM

i have heard that a female has to be 18 months and 350 grams to breed. i have also heard that as long as the female is showing signs of be receptive to breeding along with being 17 inches and 350-400 grams age is not a concern. what is the general thought on this. if a female lays unfertilized eggs without breeding is she done for the season? thanks for the response

The values you list are ideal values. Last spring a 7 month old laid 5 clutches of infertiles and weighed only 325 before she laid her 1st clutch. She could lay multiple clutches but if she doesn't I wouldn't push her to lay a 2nd cycle of eggs in one year.
