SUCCESS!!! FIRST BABY CRESTED EVER!! FINALLY.......

Gecko2525 May 24, 2003 12:42 AM

Hello.

I had my VERY FIRST crested baby hatch on the 23th. Drako (male orange tiger) and Rayne (spotless gray female) are now parents! I just found him/her at 1:15am. The baby was hatched in 58 days at 77 -79 F. I was holding one of my baby gliders at the time and I thought I would peek in. I saw a tail through the peeking window of the incubator. I thought it was hatching that moment. I opened the lid of the incubator and to my surprise....."It has hatched!!" He or she is about 1" long and a very dark brownish red with golden tail markings. The baby was so scared when I lifted the lid, but eventually it jumped on my hand and stayed there. I put the baby into a little plastic container with paper towel, a toilet paper roll cut in half and water in a baby food lid. I will go out tomorrow and get some pin head crickets. I still have the second egg to hatch. Should be any day now then. Ahhh....this is so great. They are so tiny compared to the 8" parents.

I am so excited I just had to write about it now. I'll keep you updated.

Yeah! I am a crested gecko grandma now! I'll get pictures as soon as I can.

Thanks for everyones help.....especially Mike!! LOL I would have NEVER made it this far without him.

Liz

Oh....and do babies change colour after a while? I would imagine they will, but you never know.

Thanks!

Congrats and you are totally welcome =). You can return the favor perhaps one day, I would love to get a gilder eventually….hehe. As to your question, yeah the babies change a lot as they grow. Patterns will develop and colors will change. If you have nay questions about rearing the little ones you know where to find me =). Best of luck and post some pics!
