I am one of the few people who frequent this forum that brumate my boxie indoors so I thought I should respond, but to avoid sounding like a broken record, I have posted many times about the subject and what I do, so you can scroll down or search my name and hibernation or brumation. IMHO The most important things are to keep the substrate moist, but NOT rotting wet and no standing water at the bottom of the tub, deep enough for them to burry themselves, and put them in a dark, quiet, cool place with temps below 60, ideally 40-45 F. Hope that helps, and good luck.

I hibernate my turtles indoors as well but not in my home which of course I cannot keep at 45 degrees I use an outdoor workshop/shed which has electical hook up. Anyplace that remains above freezing and has a steady temp below 50 will work-maybe a crawl space, or closet on an outside wall, or basement? I put each turtle in it's own plastic box filled with moist long fiber moss. I can check on them often. Here's a picture and actual building instuctions in my book. Tess
