I have an abundant supply of captive bred bullfrogs and their tadpoles in my backyard pond, but no toads - does anyone know if any of the hognose species can be switched from toads to pink mice using these rather than toads ?
thanks
Craig

Other form users have reported hognoses taking tadpoles with no problems. I would like to think that it is possible to use them. However, others have also reported that other Ranid species were not taken by their hognoses, where toads were. The great thing about this system is that you have a lot of specimens to use to totally coat a mouse with a frog scent.
When it comes to getting hognoses switched to mice, I say try almost anything!

my friend use a hylid he found DOR for one of his hatchlings that had not taken toads or pinks. It worked like a charm. Another hatchling took a young southern leopard. I like to think it depends on the animal itself. Andy
