crickets......then supers as adult?

ZeR0 Sep 07, 2003 05:29 PM

I got my new baby leo a week or so ago. I WAS feeding him mealworms, but he eats more if given crickets, loves to chase them. Seeing as how i dont mind dealing with SMALL crickets, i would raise him on those, until hes big enough for supers. I've heard of people having trouble getting their leos onto mealworms or supers as adults when they've been raised on crickets. Seeing as he loves crickets, im worried he wont want supers as an adult and I'll be stuck with crickets for all of eternity....I HATE crickets, and i would not want that to happen. What is everyones opinion on this?
And by the way, hes got a bit of a strange color to him. Hes got the normal yellow with purple bands, but in the middle of the bands it a clear almost translucent color, werid. I thought it might have been his bands breaking up, but hes not very old at all and im not sure, anyone else seen this? just wondering

P.S. Not a big deal, but why dont alotta people answer my posts?

Hey Mac,

I have several leos that started on crix and converted to meals or supers. I think it's an individual thing though. I do know that if they get hungry enough they will eat whatever you give them. I don't think they will starve.

If I remember rightly, you told us that your parents only allowed you to have the one leo. I know you've been wanting another leo for a long time. Congrats on the new addition.

I think when he's grown up, he might like going from crickets to supers. Mine like the variety. They know I'll always offer them superworms, so now they're too lazy to chase a cricket if it takes too much effort.

Lovin' would be easy if your colors were like my dreams...

Thanks, thats what I"ll do then. The only problem with the mealworms is, they dont seem to move much. S/he will eat them, but i have to poke at em until they start to squirm and then hope she saw it, kinda annoying to have to do this for half an hour.
Yeah, my parents only let me get one as we already have dogs and a rabbit, too many pets (in my moms opinion that is). She said no, but when she got to the show and saw all the leos she changed her mind. Hopefully it will turn out female so i can put it in with my other female, dont want eggs again. Thanks again,
Mac
